Ecosse Sponsored 106 Rally Car
 |
With the added support of Ecosse Brian Pringle and David
Marshall are sitting 2nd in their class and an amazing 7th overall in
the Scottish Tarmack Championship. With the expert advice from Tom on
brake pad compound the 106 ex Cup Car performed well in the opening 2
events, Charterhall in the Borders and the DCC stages at Ingliston.
At Charterhall The crew had their best ever class finish, picking up thier
first trophy for finishing 3rd in class. The car was faultless throughout
the day with most problems being due to no visibilty because of the dust,
with a few moments flat out in top with NO visibility. We passed several
cars on the stages and found out the width of the gates. The width of
a 106 sideways and about 1 1/2 inch either side!!!!. On the last 4 stages
we even managed to catch a Subaru Impreza that started the stage 30 seconds
in front.
The car is looking great in its new livery again much thanks to ecosse,
and as a result attracted a lot of interest.

Ingliston was a more sobering effect with a broken gearbox
mount after a heavy landing after a flat out in 4th jump on the 8th stage
causing us to lose some time and droppng us down the field. however the
service crew done an excellent job to get us back on the road, minus the
sump guard that had also been damaged. This cost us some time, but we
still mannaged to come 3rd. in class for the championship and 7th in class
for the rally.
Now its time for maintenance and preperation before our next rally The
Jim Clark which will take place in July in the Borders with a special
spectator srtage at ocean terminal in Edinburgh.
Before that however the car will be at the Perth Motorshow on the 25th
May at the Agricultural centre at Crieff Road.
We also plan a couple of sprints at Kaimes, some testing at Crail and
possibly a hill climb at Forrestburn.
